Advancing the Legacy of Alice Paul: Equality for All
Rachael Glashan Rupisan
Executive Director
Alice Stokes Paul was one of the most influential political strategists of the 20th century, playing a pivotal role in securing women’s right to vote with the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920. Following the success of the 19th Amendment, Alice authored the Equal Rights Amendment, which, nearly 100 years later, would become the 28th Amendment—fully ratified, though yet to be published. Today, the Alice Paul Center for Gender Justice continues her legacy through a variety of community programs housed in her childhood home, Paulsdale, one of only 3.8% of National Historic Landmarks in the country dedicated to the work of a woman. These programs connect history with contemporary issues, inspiring future generations to engage civically. "Equality For All" explores Alice Paul's groundbreaking work and highlights how the Center uses her story to further its mission today.
