Now Hiring: Supported Employment Job Coach

Primary Purpose of Job:

The Supported Employment Job Coach provides individualized, community-based employment support services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This role focuses on assisting individuals in obtaining and maintaining competitive, integrated employment aligned with their personal goals and abilities.

The Job Coach collaborates with individuals, employers, families, and support teams to ensure successful employment outcomes.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Employment Support:

o Develop and implement person-centered employment plans based on each individual's strengths, preferences, and goals.

o Provide on-site and off-site job coaching to support skill acquisition, task mastery, and workplace integration.

o Assist individuals in understanding job tasks, workplace policies, and social norms.

  • Job Development and Placement:

o Identify and develop employment opportunities that match individuals' interests and abilities.

o Assist with job applications, resume preparation, and interview skills training.

o Collaborate with employers to customize job duties and ensure appropriate accommodations.

  • Employer and Community Engagement:

o Establish and maintain positive relationships with employers and community partners.

o Educate employers about the benefits of hiring individuals with IDD and advocate for inclusive hiring practices.

o Facilitate effective communication between the individual, employer, and support team.

  • Ongoing Support and Monitoring:

o Monitor job performance and satisfaction, providing ongoing support and adjustments as needed.

o Develop strategies to promote independence and reduce reliance on job coaching over time.

o Address any workplace challenges or concerns promptly and effectively.

  • Documentation and Compliance:

o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of services provided, progress notes, and employment outcomes.

o Ensure compliance with DDD regulations and documentation requirements.

o Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to service planning and evaluation.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Preferred: Completion of DDD-mandated Employment Specialist Foundations training series provided by The Boggs Center
  • Minimum of 2 years experience supporting individuals with IDD, preferably in employment services.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
  • Completion of required DDD training and background checks.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to independently ambulate throughout various work and community environments including office settings, job sites, and public transportation areas.
  • Ability to drive and transport oneself frequently to multiple job sites across different counties as part of service delivery.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours at a time), often in outdoor or commercial settings.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel occasionally when modeling tasks or supporting individuals with physical aspects of job performance.
  • Capacity to lift or support items up to 25 lbs, such as training materials, employment tools, or adaptive devices.
  • Must be able to use a computer, tablet, or mobile phone for documentation and communication throughout the workday.
  • Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations (e.g., guiding individuals away from unsafe areas or helping deescalate workplace concerns).
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to observe individuals in workplace settings and engage in one-on-one coaching or group facilitation.
