Burlington County Farmers Market Places in Top 5 in National Poll

MOORESTOWN – The Burlington County Commissioners announced that the Burlington County Farmers Market made the top 5 in the national USA Today 10BEST Readers Poll.

The Burlington County market finished No. 4 in the final voting tally for the best farmers markets in the nation. The farmers market competed against 19 others from across America in the national contest.

The top vote recipient was the Soda City Market in Columbia, South Carolina.

“The Burlington County Farmers Market has long been a favorite spot for shoppers across the county and beyond and now all of America knows how great it is,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Dr. Felicia Hopson. “This is fantastic honor, and we are excited to share the news and congratulate the market’s staff, volunteers, farms, vendors and entertainers who work together to make the market such a success.”

“Agriculture has always been a major part of Burlington County’s economy, and we are proud to help keep it a strong and vibrant industry,” added Burlington County Commissioner Deputy Director Allison Eckel, the liaison to the Department of Resource Conservation and Parks. “The farmers market plays a pivotal role in the County support for agriculture and it’s gratifying to see it receive this kind of national recognition. This level of national recognition is gratifying and elevates not only the County market, but also our farmers, vendors and crafters who sell there.”

The 10BEST Readers Poll is organized by USA Today each year and crowns the best food outlets in the United States in eight different categories. Twenty finalists were selected by an expert panel and the winners were determined by an online poll with daily voting from mid-March to April 14.

This year marked the first time the Burlington County Farmers Market competed as a finalist in the online poll. It was voted the No. 1 farmers market in New Jersey and the third-best in the Northeast last year in the 2024 America’s Farmers Market Celebration poll from the American Farmland Trust.

Now in its 19th season, the Burlington County Farmers Market is located at the County Agricultural Center at 500 Centerton Road, Moorestown. The property was previously a dairy farm before being preserved by Burlington County and transitioned into a community garden and education center devoted to farming, food production, nutrition and land stewardship.

The weekly farmers market at the site has grown each year and now routinely attracts thousands of shoppers each week.

The new season started in March with preseason days. The final preseason market will be held this Saturday, April 26, from 10 AM to 1 PM.

The regular season of weekly Saturday markets kicks off on May 10 with the traditional Opening Day/Spring Garden Theme Market from 8:30 AM to 1 PM. Subsequent markets will be held the same hours every Saturday, rain or shine, through November 22.
