Cross County Connection Awarded $400K for Clean Transportation Planning in South Jersey

Environmental Energy

We’re excited to share that Cross County Connection TMA has been awarded $400,000 through the NJDEP’s new eMobility Planning Grant Program—part of the Murphy Administration’s continued commitment to reducing air pollution and improving public health across New Jersey.

Cross County Connection was one of four New Jersey Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) that received an eMobility Planning Grant. NJDEP awarded a total of $983,950 to support these four TMAs with efforts to partner with communities and develop strategies that reduce traffic congestion and connect residents to jobs, schools, healthcare, and other essential services.

Cross County Connection's work will focus on communities across Salem, Cumberland, Atlantic, and Cape May counties. Activities will include evaluating current transportation options and conducting surveys and community engagement to better understand resident perspectives.

This effort will be guided by NJDEP’s eMobility Planning Toolkit—a step-by-step resource designed to help communities create smart, implementable transportation plans eligible for future NJDEP funding. Cross County Connection’s planning efforts will be committed to delivering projects that:

Reduce harmful vehicle emissions

Alleviate congestion in underserved areas

Improve access to employment, education, and healthcare

Advance transportation equity in South Jersey
